arteaméricas is the premier fair of art from Latin America and Spain. Returning for its ninth installment in 2011, it will showcase the latest trends in paintings, sculpture and multimedia. Galleries from all over the Americas will be participating, representing hundreds of emerging artists and renowned masters. The fair takes place in Miami Beach, drawing a diverse and upscale audience to enjoy high-quality art within an intimate setting. arteaméricas is not only the Latin American art fair, but also the art fair of the Americas and Spain. As a special feature in 2011, the fair will be honoring Mexico.

In 2011, the fair will have fifty galleries showcasing more than 300 artists. The artists represented by the galleries hail from every country in the Americas and Spain. The four-day arteaméricas event will feature works by internationally recognized master artists and sculptors. Likewise, vanguard contemporary artists will be on hand in order to exhibit their works as the latest in modern art.

In 2011, arteaméricas will introduce its NewArt section, featuring an exhibition by the Miami Art Museum. This special project will highlight works of new and upcoming artists in the Latin American art scene. In addition, the fair is organizing a curated space that will depict the violence in Central America through the eyes of various artists, as well as a curated space specially created for Cuban art.

arteaméricas is committed to the advancement of the arts and to supporting the community’s student artists from Florida International University (FIU), Miami International University of Art & Design, the New World School of the Arts and Barry University. In 2011, as in prior years, these student artists will be judged by gallery owners in an effort to teach them about the business side of the art world.

Conceived and organized by Dr. Julia Herzberg, arteaméricas 2011 will bring back Art Talks, a series of four discussion tables aimed at furthering the understanding of the visual arts, biennial productions and collecting practices. There will be theater-type seating in the comfort of the Salón where lectures will also be presented to the fair’s attendees. Lecturers will include Carol Damian and Ricardo Pau-Llosa. Salón arteaméricas will also be showing video art throughout the fair’s four day run, in addition to book presentations.
